  • Continue film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. Compare and contrast the film/novel with Fitzgerald's "Winter Dreams"
  • April 18
  • Respond to the following questions about Fitzgerald's selections:
  • 1. Compare and contrast Judy and Dexter with Daisy and Gatsby. Be detailed in your analysis.
  • 2. Discuss the difference in narration of the two selections. What is the effect of having an engaged character (1st person) narrate Gatsby?
  • 3. Discuss the major themes of both selections. What are their similarities and differences?
  • 4. Describe the settings of Gatsby and "Winter Dreams." How does the setting affect the stories?

Who's your favoritie poet and why?

  • Robert Frost is my favorite poet because he wrote my favorite poem, "The Road Not Taken." It really spoke to me, because I often think about how my life might be different had I made different choices and taken different paths. I contemplate this not in a regretful way, but a reflective one.
